The yester years

Just yesterday Chou King called me and told me that Stephen Gately from the band Boyzone had passed away. Now I wasn't that big a fan of Boyzone to begin with, not that I disliked them or anything, it's just at that time when boybands were at their peak, I was more into Backstreet Boys and N Sync, yes you heard me right.

It was quite shocking to hear of his passing, for some reason it made a bigger impact on me than MJ's death, maybe cause I grew up with boybands than I did with MJ's songs. Anyway this lead me to YouTube some old videos and songs that I used to enjoy back in those days. Wow I'm finally old enough to say "back in those days" haha! Well enjoy!

Boyzone - Picture of You

N Sync - Tearin' Up My Heart

Backstreet Boys - As Long As You Always Love Me (click here for the original video)

5ive - When The Lights Go Out

Westlife - If I Let You Go
Ok so granted Westlife is relative newer compared to the other boybands but they were still within that era albeit somewhat towards the end.

911 - Body Shakin'

98 Degrees - Invisible Man

I have left out a couple of the newer boybands simply because I felt they lacked what these guys possess - vintageness if you want to call it that =D Oh well, enjoy these songs, hopefully it brings back memories to you like they did for me, and if you've never heard of these guys then I suggest you give Wikipedia a visit.

I'd rather juggle girls

Well if you did not know, I have a photoblog up and running at http://lsengyip.wordpress.com! I figured since I carry my iPhone around all day and it has 3G access why not make use of it and mobile blog. It's basically a photoblog of stuff that I find interesting or would make a good photo, I take a photo, edit it on my iPhone with some apps that I downloaded and upload it. The magic that is the iPhone.

Juggling 2 blogs is tough I think, it's like should I update this or update that hmm but I guess the fact that it's a photoblog makes it easier to distinguish the differences between my 2 blogs. So I promised you guys a review on energy drinks, sorry to say I finished all my cans at home and if you have seen my fridge (probably should have taken a picture) you would know that there was a ton of energy drink in there so the fact that I finished it should say something!

So far life has been good, I kinda miss the freedom of being able to go out late at night to mamak and to be able to call any of my friends to come along. Everything here closes so damn early and the suburbs where I stay is plain scary at night, like random-stabbings scary. The best I can do is the vending machine downstairs in the common room but then again I don't have that many people here that stay close to me or are willing to just hang out. Daylight savings just started today too, kinda messed me up a bit cause I woke up at 10:45am and I was like damn that's late but actually it was normal because prior to daylight savings it was just 9:45am which is about the normal time I wake up anyway.

Exams are next month, and hopefully I will be able to do somewhat well, gotta work my ass off. In a way it sucks that my exams are in the beginning of November because that leaves me less time to study. Ok fine I lied, it just gives me less time to procrastinate studying haha. That also means I start my holidays earlier! Yay! I also finally gave in to my desires and started playing WoW again, but I'm not addicted..yet. I suppose if I don't get a job for the summer it would be a good way to kill time in the apparently scorching heat. Until next time!

Strangers in the night exchanging glances...

The other day on the way to Chadstone with Colin this rather obese Australian in a dirty sweatshirt, greasy long hair and a cap entered the train and immediately started talking to us. He was seated a few seats behind but he decided he would talk to us anyway. Now the topic of what he decided to talk to us isn't important, rather his openness and lack of social awareness is.

Basically he was ranting at how bad Australia is compared to the US and how he wants to move back there and basically gave us a little information on the places we passed while on the train. That was fine and all but the fact that he was so open about talking to strangers and not realizing we were damn uncomfortable really put us on the spot. I started to think damn why won't he go away, what a weirdo!

It then struck me, isn't that what game is about? Talking to strange girls you've never met. The only difference here would be the lack of social awareness, but otherwise what so different from me approaching random girls and them thinking I'm weird? The upside to being in Australia is their openness when it comes to making small talk with strangers, and as the day goes by I realize that slowly but surely I'm starting to open up and attempting to see what I can get away with here in terms of making new friends.

Say what?!

Yes I am back and I am blogging again. I'm not sure how long this will keep up, hopefully for at least the duration for which I am in Melbourne for, sort of a way to keep my friends updated. I like this theme actually and I should probably change the small graphic at the top left corner to better reflect my blog title but I'm a lazy bastard so you may refer to my blog as sIMPRESS or AWESOME! either of which would probably not make some site owners very happy, but to hell with them! Viva La Revolución!

To be honest I've been meaning to blog for a while already but I was a bit torn over trying to decide whether I should use Facebook notes to keep friends updated, or should I blog again? The downside to Facebook notes is that you can't really format it like a blog so that's the downside. Plus I'd hate to flood my friend's news feeds with random YouTube links and other crap which I know I would be annoyed if I saw them all the time, not to mention the ads I could place on my blog! Think of all the money..I mean possibilities! Yea fine so sue me, I'm a sellout like that.

So what's up with people name dropping and updating their Facebook statuses like a billion times a day anyway? Yea I get it, you're in Penang now, oh wait now you're in Singapore, oh hang on you're in Malacca now eating chicken rice balls with some other Malaysian "celebrity". Clever how I put "celebrity" in quotes isn't it, because we all know that there are no real celebrities..I mean, "celebrities" in Malaysia.

I don't even know how that rant came about, I must be tired and speaking of tired I should probably pop a can of energy drink or two, or maybe not. That was just my sneaky way of leading you into my next upcoming post on energy drinks! I will be going over how energy drinks are bad for your health with the help of several of my nutritionist friends, so stay tuned!

In the meantime try some water, I hear it works wonders.

*edit*

I have very supportive friends - in fact when I told one of them I had just made a post, his reaction was:-

Fabian says (12:48 AM):
lol its aliveee!! ITS ALIVE!!!

Indeed.
